This phone number just called me. I didn't answer because my caller display showed it as a nuisance call but a voicemail message was left that said something about an SMS and pressing 65551. Having read the comments on this website, I'm glad I didn't answer this call but thought everybody should be aware that it is still active.

There are several legit text to speech to housephone translation and relay services operating in the UK. The 2 largest will call from 08456021111 (BT - most phone providers and many businesses use the BT service) and 03333440000 (a few phone providers and many businesse use this AQL service). Check out the posts about these legit audio text services on this site. The posts will tell you why you could get texts sent to your housephone and, unless you are 101% certain the call is legit DO NOT press any buttons on your phone when prompted. The message will be read by the computer when the bot runs out of options. This scam attempts to imitate the legit BT text service. Press 1 and you will have problems. To report the scam number text the details to 7726 and follow the instructions on the response.

There are legit text to speech to landline translation and relay services thst sound a bit like this number when you answer but this number is a scam. It's not advisable to press buttons on your phone if a bot voice tells you unless you are 101% certain the number and the call is legit. But check out those posts below.

This is a SCAM!! DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTON ON YOUR PHONE WHEN INSTRUCTED! The scam is attempting to imitate the legit free to answer BT owned and operated text to speech to landline translation and relay service that most phone providers and many businesses use to ensure text messages sent to housephones are delivered. That legit number is 08456021111. Check it out on this site. There are posts that explain EXACTLY how this BT system works and why it calls as it does. The BT system does offer options to press buttons on your phone but if you ignore the options and do nothing, the message will be read- eventually. This scam won't do that. Press the button when told and you will immediately get sucked onto a VERY expensive wangiri scam number or similar scam. Hang up and report the scam details by text to 7726. Follow the instructions on the response. More scam report info is on the National Cyber Security Centre website 'https:// www.ncsc.gov.uk/ collection/ phishing-scams'.
