Auto call blocking

With any Phonely plan we will automatically block the known suspicious numbers on our database for you. This database is updated daily with numbers commonly blocked by our customers. Any number reported via our NuisanceCalls.org.uk who called me website reaches our database within the hour!

If you're on a CallGuard or CallGuard+ plan, you can also manually block as many numbers as you wish. Besides that, you can also choose to have calls from withheld numbers blocked automatically, which is a common tactic used by scammers to hide their identity. You can also block calls from non-UK numbers, which are often used by international scammers.

As a CallGuard user you can block all inbound call, with the exception of numbers that are in your Phonely Contact Book. This way you maintain control over who can reach you while still protecting yourself from unwanted calls.

Once activated, this feature works alongside your manually blocked numbers for complete call protection.

Block withheld callers

Available on our CallGuard plans, calls from withheld numbers, where the number is hidden, can be automatically blocked. This helps prevent nuisance or scam calls from reaching your phone.

Scammers often hide their numbers to avoid detection and make it harder for people to block them. With our service, withheld numbers are automatically blocked for you.

This feature works seamlessly alongside your manually blocked numbers, giving you complete protection with minimal effort.

For maximum protection, you can turn on contacts-only mode. In this mode, every inbound call is blocked by default, and only numbers saved in your Phonely Contact Book are allowed through.

This is the most effective way to stop scammers and nuisance callers outright, since unknown numbers are silently rejected before they ever ring your phone. It also means you're no longer relying on us to recognise a new scam number before it reaches you.

Because only your saved contacts can get through, calls from numbers you don't yet have stored, such as your GP surgery, a hospital, a delivery driver, will also be blocked. It's worth thinking through the trade-offs before switching this feature on.

Blocking numbers helps others

The more numbers you block, the more that you protect others from falling victim to scams or fraud via the telephone. This is because Phonely's systems will detect any number that is commonly blocked by our customers and add it to our auto-block database.

Any number that enters our auto-block database will be prevented from calling any customer with any Phonely plan which will in turn further reduce the risk of anyone becoming prey to phone criminals.
