My 90year old mum is now worried. She let a man into her house and is now worried as they said they are coming back.

Text me about appointment shortly asking if I wanted to go ahead text yes(which I did) or change appointment if not convient. I then received another message saying they couldn’t recognise my phone number wanted lots more details. I blocked them and reported it as a scam

Probably a scam? I also got a text from this number saying my electricity meter needs to be replaced. Claimed to be from British Gas; however all of my British Gas text contact comes up as "British Gas", not a number. Decided to delete it on the grounds that if it IS British Gas, they'll keep trying.

I received about about my smart meter being faulty, I rang it back got a voice message saying I'm unable to assist you at the moment bye American accent I think this is a scam ive blocked number

I spoke to an advisor at British Gas. I do have an appointment but told them that the number did not look legitimate. I blocked it. I then used British Gas chat to confirm that I wish to proceed with my booked appointment and then got them to send email confirmation.

After speaking to British Gas directly it looks like the issue was with my meter readings, not some scam. The earlier call from this number may have been genuine.
