Caller started with hello how are you today so I hung up immediately.

Said they wanted to give me a discount but asked what bank I used a number of times i refused to give it and they said i wouldn't get discount its a scam

Scammer testing if the line is active. As soon as I said hello they disconnected. Definitely fraudulent behavior.

Phone rang. I said hello twice, no response. I waited 15 secs and the call closed with ‘the caller has cleared’ (or words to that effect).

Maybe I'll just play a looped recording of a fake address to them next time.

These are scammers. Never pick up unknown cold calls. Always report scam tries to the official police or Ofcom channels.
